FRAUD PREVENTION

At Mi BANK we value your safety and security. As such we have outlined some tips and tools you can utilize to help prevent fraud.

As a reminder we will never ask you for account numbers or passwords by phone, email, or text. If you receive a suspicious communication claiming to be from Mi BANK, please contact us right away.

Password Management

    Having a strong password is an important step in preventing fraud. Using complex and unique passwords makes it less probable that someone can gain unauthorized access to your account. For an added layer of protection, we encourage you to also change your password every few months.

How to accomplish:

  • Log into your online banking account.
  • Click “Profile” located at the top right of the page.
  • Here you can edit your password and manage your challenge questions.

Alerts

    Another important step in preventing fraud is setting up and managing the various types of alerts offered in your online banking account. Whether you want to receive alerts when someone is trying to access your online banking or when a debit transaction is posted to your account, there are a variety of alerts you can enable to help you prevent fraud.

How to accomplish:

  • Log into your online banking account. 
  • Click “Alerts” located at the top right of the page.
  • Click on “Contact Options” to make sure your cell number and email address are activated.
  • Click on “Alert Options” to choose the type of activity you would like to receive alerts for.

Card Management

    Another important step in preventing fraud is taking advantage of our robust card management tools located in our mobile app. Whether you want to know where your card is stored online or want to turn off a potentially lost or stolen card, there are a variety of card management tools you can use to help prevent fraud.

How to accomplish:

  • Open our Mobile App on your device and log into your account.
  • Tap on “Cards” located on the menu bar at the bottom of the app and your debit card should appear (if you have more than one card you can swipe to see your other cards).
  • From here you have various card management tools.
  • These tools allow you to manually turn your card off or on, view your recent transactions, keep tabs on which merchants have your card on file, track recurring payments and subscriptions, set controls on where, when, and how your card is used,  add places you may visit in the future so we can help keep your card secure, and quickly report a lost or stolen card.

Mobile Wallet

    Another important step in preventing fraud is adding your Mi BANK debit card to your phone’s Mobile Wallet. Adding your card to your phone’s mobile wallet not only allows you to securely authorize purchases directly from your mobile device, it also creates an extra level of fraud protection as the merchant never sees your name, card number or security code.

How to accomplish:

  • Open our Mobile App on your device and log into your account.
  • Tap on “Cards” located on the menu bar at the bottom of the app and your debit card should appear (if you have more than one card you can swipe to see your other cards).
  • From here there is an option to add your card to your phone’s mobile wallet.
